Inner and Outer Soul

Somatic work is quickly finding its place within the therapeutic community.Under the somatic umbrella live words like felt sense, embodiment, and experiencing.
Fair enough.
Implicit in somatic work is the belief that, like the soul, it is something interior—something we sense within.
I’d like to offer another perspective.
What if “soul” isn’t just inside us?
What if soul is everything that surrounds us—the field we move through, the atmosphere that holds us?
The universe itself as soul.
Alan Watts, the philosopher who once dismissed astrology as pseudo-science, also suggested that our astrological birth chart might serve as a crude map of the individual soul.
It’s a paradox he seemed to enjoy.
We are not separate from the universe.
We are everything—soul-surrounded with spirit moving through.
Even clothing can be a form of somatic expression.
Who do you dress for—the label, or yourself?
Your signature color—the tone or hue that feels unmistakably you—is the frequency you’re most in tune with .When you wear it, something aligns. You feel ease, groundedness,
comfort in your own skin.
In a word: embodiment.
Old-school words like dash, verve, and panache speak to this too.
If you haven’t already, visit a tailor or local clothing designer and ask for their help in discovering your color.
Think of it as finding context for both your inner and outer soul.
